A Library at Last
After three years of construction, the newly dedicated Chalmers Library anchors a campus emerging from pandemic disruption.
South Campus Residences
Goal: $110 Million
An anonymous gift of $100 million will fund three new apartment-style residences on South Campus, each with room for just over 100 students. The new buildings will be built to LEED gold standards for sustainability and support the College’s commitment to carbon neutrality by 2040. The location of new buildings behind and offset with Old Kenyon was identified in the most recent campus Master Plan in 2014 and key features were reaffirmed in the recent comprehensive housing study. Any additional construction cost beyond the anonymous gift will be made up in fundraising and not from College operating funds.
West Quad and Village Revitalization
Goal: $80 Million
The College presence in the Village of Gambier has been revitalized as the result of Our Path Forward, in an updated style that retains the familiar feel alumni will remember. The construction wall around the new Chalmers Library recently came down, offering campus a look at the gorgeous new structure, designed to complement its neighbors Rosse Hall and the Gund Gallery. Current plans call for work on the library to wrap before summer, with students being welcomed to its many reading rooms and study nooks in the fall.
Construction of its companion buildings, a new home for admissions and a new academic building, is well underway with planned completion next year.
